The thrilling 27-hole layout of Sandpiper Bay is one of many appealing golf courses of the Grand Strand’s northern end, located just across the North Carolina border. Keeping in mind the aspect of fun, Dan Maples created this course for golfers to be able to pair two of three 9-hole courses together to mix-and-match an unforgettable round of golf. It epitomizes Maples’ known credo: "From the beginning, one of our goals had been to build courses that players could remember.”

Sandpiper Bay resides in a lovely natural setting that features sizable lakes, winding creeks, and plentiful wetlands in lieu of more traditional water hazards. Whichever course combination you choose to play, golfers are bound to engage in cautious yet polite exchanges with wildlife. It is not uncommon to see gators silently creeping along the banks of ponds, on a course that prides itself on maximizing the effect of its natural surroundings.

Three distinctly different 9-hole courses – Sand, Piper, and Bay – utilize more than 50 bunkers and 40 acres of lakes in its course design, rewarding players for accuracy off the tee and consistency on approach shots. With flat sweeping fairways galore and MiniVerde Bermudagrass greens, golfers will find this course scorable and forgiving. The diversity of tee boxes offers enough variety to challenge beginners and more experienced golfers alike. Depending on what you desire, you can make this course as easy or as hard as the mood strikes you.

Golf Digest assigned the course 4 stars in its "Places to Play” guide while the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association named it the "Best of Sunset Beach” from 2008-2009. Beyond these notable accolades, golfer reviews of Sandpiper Bay are consistent in their approval of their golfing experience. Indeed, Sandpiper Bay displays all the hallmarks of a quality golf course and a memorable golfing experience.
