In an area that is home to so many golf courses, standing out from the crowd can be difficult but that’s certainly not the case at Eagle Nest Golf Club. The venerable North Myrtle Beach layout attracted national attention in 2018 with the opening of its "Perch Tees,” which extended the layout to a whopping 8,168 yards, the longest in South Carolina. We didn't include those in the stats above.

While the Perch Tees shined a spotlight on Eagle Nest, the reality is only professional golfers and PGA members are allowed to even consider teeing it up from that distance. Of much greater importance to "regular” golfers is the commitment ownership has shown to enhancing the Gene Hamm layout.

Eagle Nest was among the first courses in the area to convert to MiniVerde ultradwarf Bermudagrass greens and the club recently enhanced drainage throughout the property and repaired cart paths, all upgrades that have considerably enhanced the experience for players.

On the course, Eagle Nest has long touted its final three holes as the Grand Strand’s toughest finishing stretch. A par 3, 4, and 5 provide players an unforgettable finish. The 17th hole is one of the Myrtle Beach area’s longest par 5s (616 yards from the blue tees) and the layout closes with a par 3 over water.

While the final two holes attract attention, the par-4 16th is the course’s toughest test. The 449-yard 16th requires golfers to carry water to a green surrounded by three bunkers. Golfers who survive the hole will be poised to close strong.

Eagle Nest, which opened in 1972, has proven to be one of the North Strand’s enduring properties, providing locals and traveling golfers with a quality layout at tremendous value. The course consistently delivers quality conditions to accompany the value price, a recipe that has served Eagle Nest well.
