The beauty of Crown Park resides in its forest-like layout where lofty pines and rolling hills are plentiful. This hidden gem is located just west of North Myrtle Beach, where players can experience a change of scenery by teeing it up at an intricately designed course surrounded by canopies of trees and a distinct absence of houses, giving this course a true country club feel. Crown Park’s large greens and sweeping fairways set this course apart from others in the area, attracting players from near and far to experience this Robbie Byers masterpiece.
One of the first things you notice about Crown Park is that the placement of bunkers and water hazards was well thought out in the establishment of this course. Golfers are forced to settle for playing it safely or aggressively on many holes, especially on the back nine. Fourteen of Crown Park’s 18 holes feature water, where players will need to account for these hazards before hitting tee or approach shots. Par and birdie opportunities are plentiful here, but shots straying from the fairway will hamper those chances. Be prepared for your short game and recovery shots to be put to the test.
Since opening in 2002, Crown Park has been consistently lauded for its golf course maintenance operations, most notably for being one of the North Strand’s most well-groomed designs year in and year out. It’s the ultimate "gateway course,” one of the first in the Grand Strand area that visitors driving in from the north get to experience. The bliss of Crown Park’s wild and timbered geography makes for an ideal opening round of any multi-round golf vacation.
Of particular note are Crown Park’s three finishing holes, where even the most skilled players’ abilities are put to the test by winding lakes that sit adjacent to each green. If you haven’t experienced the charm of this golf course, you are missing out on a round of golf you’ll never forget.
