Just minutes from the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk and its numerous shops, restaurants and water-featured attractions, Wachesaw East presents a challenging, distinctive layout that has played host to many professional tournaments, including the LPGA Kathy Ireland Classic.

Scottish-inspired, the greens are some of the largest and most impressive in the area. And with huge forests of Carolina pines lining almost every hole, you often find yourself playing in an air of seclusion you might not otherwise expect.

As a signature design by Clyde Johnston, the course has a perfect combination of dogleg par 4s, 5s and shorter, scoreable par 3s. Measuring just over 6,900 yards from the back tees, the par-72 layout presents a fair challenge for players of all skill levels, with design elements that include marshy areas, extensive waste bunkering and greenside runoffs.

If you get hungry after your round, the full-service bar and restaurant inside the contemporary clubhouse is a local favorite, with a veranda-covered back patio area overlooking the 10th tee and practice area. It is a wonderfully relaxed venue to enjoy your lunch or celebrate a great round with a post-golf drink.
