The challenge and thrill of TPC Myrtle Beach come with the promise of a tour-caliber golfing experience, paired with a landscape permeated by rich history and tradition at every turn. The Tom Fazio-designed course hosted the Senior Tour Championship in 2000, and event won by the legendary Tom Watson. The only design in the Myrtle Beach area awarded a 5-star rating in Golf Digest’s "Places to Play,” TPC Myrtle Beach is a hotspot for both highly skilled players and beginners to challenge themselves at this legendary golf course.
Entering the clubhouse is an experience in itself. Lining the entryway are large trophy cases, pictures, and other memorabilia evoking memories of some of golf’s greatest moments. Other amenities include one of the best views from a golf course’s dining area along the Grand Strand. Overlooking the picturesque 18th hole, golfers can enjoy a bite to eat and perhaps a cold beer while being entertained by golfers attempting to save par on TPC’s renowned finishing hole.
TPC Myrtle Beach boasts a world-class practice facility, including an expansive driving range adjacent to practice bunkers and a large putting green. If you’re looking for world-class golf instruction, the Dustin Johnson Golf School resides on the far end of the practice range with its director of coaching, Allen Terrell, having mentored Johnson both during his collegiate days at Coastal Carolina and to this day as a PGA TOUR star.
Crafted amid protected wetlands, TPC Myrtle Beach winds its way through scenic hardwood forests and thick foliage. The Audubon Society recognized the course as a Certified Cooperative Sanctuary that is home to numerous native birds, plants, and other wildlife.
Built with an emphasis on accuracy, both tee and approach shots may visually intimidate golfers at first. Water comes into play on 10 of the 18 holes, with many risk-reward opportunities. Well-manicured fairways and pristine greens produce a golfing experience akin to one you’ll find on the professional tours. The 538-yard, par-5 18th is TPC Myrtle Beach’s signature hole, with a panoramic view of the stately white clubhouse behind a large, undulating green. More skilled players may go for the green in two, but laying up is never a bad play here with water left and numerous bunkers encroaching from the right.
In addition to its Golf Digest rating, TPC Myrtle Beach has been cited by Golfweek among its "Best Courses You Can Play,” and Golf Magazine for boasting one of the "Top 100 Golf Shops in America.”
