Litchfield Country Club exudes a timeless Lowcountry vibe with plenty of southern charm to go around. One of the first eight golf courses ever built along the Grand Strand, Litchfield was established in 1966 and remains a popular course to this day. Course architect Willard Byrd paired his passion for golf course design with the natural landscape of Pawleys Island to shape sharp doglegs and craft narrow fairways into the production of this magnificent set of 18 holes.

Located upon the grounds of one of the largest historic rice plantations along the Waccamaw River, Litchfield seamlessly merges its traditional charm with a feel for history that never fails to satisfy. Giant live oak trees envelop the plantation-style clubhouse that greets players upon their arrival at the course, while a picturesque course layout enhances the ambiance even further.

Litchfield’s traditionally styled design showcases tree-lined fairways that make way for tight shots off the tee and strategic approach shots into well-protected greens. Topping at around 6,700 yards from the back tees and 5,200 from the forward tees, the shorter length has made the course quite popular among women and senior golfers. Where distance lacks, small greens accentuate the challenge. Flat and slightly elevated, most of the greens at Litchfield are surrounded by low-profile bunkers that award straight and short hitters, while simultaneously punishing inconsistency. The signature finishing hole at No. 18 has received plenty of attention over the years for its dogleg fairway, supported by a rigid approach shot into a small green protected by a pair of bunkers that challenge golfers of all abilities every time.

Litchfield Country Club has earned several accolades over the years, including one of the "World’s 50 Best – 1996,” by Conde Nast Traveler. Additionally, the course was awarded a 4.5-star rating in Golf Digest’s 2008 "Places to Play” guide.

The timeless design of Litchfield Country Club offers players with a creative challenge that visiting golfers will enjoy time and again.
