If you want the full test that Caledonia has to offer you can play it at 6,526 yards, or you can make it easier and play it at 6,121 yards. With a slope rating of 132 the, par 70 test is one of South Carolina’s must play courses on your trip.

Our Favorite Breakfast Spots In Myrtle Beach

There seriously aren’t many things better than a hot breakfast. Seriously! Aside from landing a tee shot on a par 3 a few feet from the pin and a couple other things, there really isn’t much that tops a good breakfast.

Whether you like pancakes, eggs, waffles or a meaty steak, there are endless options for a good breakfast in the Myrtle Beach area.

It would be WAY too hard to talk about them all, so we decided to tell you about three of our favorites!

Eggs Up Grill
Although Eggs Up Grill is a chain, it doesn’t have a chain feel to it. Because it’s a chain, you can stay pretty much anywhere along the Grand Strand and enjoy an Eggs Up breakfast.

So, what makes Eggs Up so special? First, the service! Go to any Eggs Up and you’ll be greeted with a smile – followed by a cup of coffee!

Second, Eggs Up has a great menu. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. But, if we had to suggest one item, it’d be an omelet. Eggs Up has some of the best and you can pretty much get any kind of omelet you want.

Johnny D’s Waffles and Bakery
Looking for some of the wildest breakfast creations? Head to Johnny D’s!

If you have a sweet tooth, this is your place. At Johnny D’s you can get a banana split waffle or a red velvet cake waffle. Sound good? Well, you’re right. They are!

Along with it’s crazy breakfast concoctions, Johnny D’s has a wide variety of menu items, including breakfast skillets. You can’t go wrong with the Irish Skillet, which features a deadly combination of eggs, cheese, potatoes, hash and bacon – all topped with lots and lots of cheese!

Dino’s House of Pancakes
Located in North Myrtle Beach, you can find pretty much anything you want at Dino’s House of Pancakes.

With an extensive menu, it can be hard to suggest a particular item. If you are having trouble picking, go with the western omelet or the pancakes – you won’t be disappointed.

Arrowhead Country Club – 5 Things

Arrowhead Country Club Waterway 5Situated in the heart of the vibrant Grand Strand golf scene is one of Myrtle Beach’s most requested designs: Arrowhead Country Club, a Raymond Floyd/Tom Jackson design collaboration that has enjoyed a steady stream of repeat, loyal customers for more than two decades. In 1998, it earned the distinction of being named “South Carolina Golf Course of the Year” by the National Golf Course Owners Association.

Just what makes Arrowhead a special golf experience? We’ve got five good reasons right here:

1. The course is impeccably manicured year-round. Arrowhead’s grounds crew goes the extra yard to make sure you remember how good the course conditions were for your round, no matter the season. They’re also one of a select group of courses that routinely overseeds its layout in the offseason, giving it the kind of deep-hued, “wall to wall green” appearance that makes it easy to forget it’s February, not May.

2. It’s masterfully blended with its Intracoastal Waterway surroundings. Arrowhead plays frequently into or along a scenic stretch of water that serves as a defining element on several holes, including No. 5 along its Waterway nine that’s widely regarded as the course’s signature hole.

3. Arrowhead offers multiple playing options. It’s one of a handful of 27-hole layouts along the Grand Strand, with each 9-hole set offering distinctly different looks thanks to a masterfully crafted use of elevation changes. So in whatever combination you play two of the Cypress, Waterway and Lakes nines, you’re in for a truly unique playing experience.

4. With Arrowhead, the Raymond Floyd/Tom Jackson tandem make quite the design statement. Floyd places a premium on blending his handiwork with its natural surroundings, while Jackson is at his best when infusing creative elements throughout his design – including, as Jackson describes it, a “3-dimensional look” with many holes accented by moguls and undulation.

5. The price is right. For a course seen by many as a premium offering, it comes without an exorbitant price tag. And it’s one of 12 courses available on our Beach’s Best Package deal, featuring 3 nights’ lodging and 3 rounds of golf from just $258 per person.

CLICK HERE to learn more about the Beach’s Best Package, and be sure to include Arrowhead Country Club as part of your perfect Myrtle Beach golf getaway!

Meet Heather Royer – New Golf Sales Manager

Heather Royer joins Condo-World and MBGolf.com as Golf Sales Manager

If you’ve ever spoken on the phone or in person with our Golf Sales Manager Heather Royer, you can instantly feel her passion for the game of golf. It’s that passion that makes Heather one of the best in business at what she does.

With a lifetime of experience in the golf industry, Heather knows a thing or two. Whether you are looking for a suggestion on a course to play that is a little more forgiving or a great spot for dinner, Heather can give you the answer you are looking for.

Get to know Heather Royer:

How long have you been at Condo World and what do you like most?
“I joined Condo World in July of 2017 and was hired as the Golf Sales Manager. Before that, I worked for five years as a golf director for another company.

I enjoy every aspect of my job. What I love most is talking golf every single day. Golf has been part of my life since I was a little child. Having a job where you get to be around the game you love every day is special.”

What is your favorite Myrtle Beach golf course and why?
“I think Tidewater is just a special place. The layout as a whole, the scenery and the pristine conditions all make it special. I think it is magnificent from when you first drive in. Prior to Myrtle Beach, I lived in Hilton Head and Tidewater reminds me of Hilton Head.

The staff is top-notch and they go the extra mile to keep the place in great condition.”

Why should someone take a golf trip?
“The golf here is so good. How many places in this world do you have 80 golf courses and people that work so hard in the industry to make golf so good? It is a special place with a lot of special people. And, the people that work here just want people to come see why Myrtle Beach is such a special place.”

Why should someone book through Condo World?
“I think Condo World is unique. We have such a great staff and everyone is so talented and incredible. We work very hard to study the market to make sure our rates for accommodations and golf are competitive. We have such a vast collection of properties all the way from Brunswick to Pawleys Plantation. I think we are unmatched – we’ve been around 33 years for a reason.”

What are some of your favorite suggestions for people to do off the golf course?
“Myrtle Beach has great dining options. Golfers come here and they want a good meal after a long day. North Myrtle has just blown up recently. There are a lot of really neat shows, water sports and dining options. Plus, Topgolf is coming and that will be really cool for golfers. The options are limitless for activities.”

Where is your favorite place to eat in the MB area and why?
“I have so many spots. I am a big fan of Joe’s Bar & Grill. It’s fun to sit out on the deck and have a few drinks during happy hour. You can always get a good meal there.”

Your Husband, Hugh, played 14 years professionally. Do you have a fun story from that time?
“I used to caddy for Hugh back in the day from time to time, much to his old-school father’s chagrin. Anyways, the year was 1999 – I believe. He was playing at Sedgefield Country Club on the then Buy.Com Tour (now Web.Com) Greensboro Open. He was playing great and I always read every putt. I never said a word unless he asked me for a read. We were on the last hole and he asked for a read. I gave him my opinion. He didn’t listen and saw something completely different. If he had gone with my read, he would have shot 63 instead of 64. Moral of the story – he should always listen!!! We still laugh about it to this day!”

Remembering the King: Arnold Palmer

Remembering The King: Arnold Palmer

Sunday afternoon at the Tour Championship gave us plenty to talk about, as Dustin Johnson stumbled to the finish line at Eastlake, and relinquished the FedEx Cup and $10 million bonus check to a charging Rory Mcilroy. Then Sunday evening came, and delivered the sobering news that golf’s greatest ambassador, Arnold Palmer, had passed away at the age of 87.

It has been no surprise that Arnold’s health had been ailing in recent months. His few public appearances this year provided visual proof that The King was struggling. But that did not stop Arnie from providing his iconic thumbs up to beloved fans at this year’s Masters and Bay Hill Invitational. Arnold’s fans, known as “Arnie’s Army,” have remained as strong as ever since he burst onto the scene in the 1950s. Arnold’s 62 professional victories and 7 Major Championships dubbed him the name of “The King,” but his blue collar background and widespread appeal to the masses helped him achieve the title “The Peoples Champion.”

Aside from his legendary career on the links, Arnie’s inventiveness in the business realm will leave his largest footprint on the game of golf. Arnold was the first to monetize the game through endorsements and advertisements, blending golf with pop culture. His efforts early on have helped pave the way to the $10 million FedEx Cup bonus check we see in the game today, a figure that exceeds the career earnings of Arnie and Jack Nicklaus combined. Arnie’s largest achievement may very well be the inception of the Golf Channel in 1993, a network that now reaches more than 70 million households in over 81 territories worldwide. His tireless efforts to grow the game of golf have helped Arnold become the third-highest paid retired athlete in annual earnings, behind that of Michael Jordan and David Beckham.

Arnold leaves a legacy that will be forever remembered and appreciated amongst golf fans across the world. He leaves behind a sport that would not be what it is today without his work on and off the golf course. Myrtle Beach is no exclusion to the Arnie effect, as he designed two premium courses on the Grand Strand, River’s Edge and King’s North.

A toast to the The King, Arnold Palmer!

Myrtle Beach Fall Golf Update

What a summer it has been for the sport of golf! We have seen a seemingly immortal retail giant leave the sport, golf’s triumphant return to the Olympics for the first time in over a century, and now the Golf Capital of the World prepares to welcome golfers for another fantastic Fall Golf Season! Here’s what MBGolf has to say about the lot: index

So long Nike Golf: Early August revealed a chink in the armor of the retail giant, Nike, as they announced that they are shutting down their golf equipment department, and will no longer sell clubs, bags, or balls. They will still be selling golf apparel and shoes. Let’s get this straight- this is not a reflection of the state of the sport in terms of a decline in popularity; if anything, the failure of Nike Golf is due partly to the growth of golf. The development and ascension of young stars in the game has developed new fan bases across the world. This year’s British Open, a classic shootout between Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson, received its highest television ratings in more than 7 years. No, golf is in a good place right now, and the future looks very bright. But can you name a prominent player pulling Nike clubs out of the bag? Rory Mcilroy has broken more Nike equipment over the last few years than the typical Sunday hack. We’ll give it to Nike, they get checks across the board for flash and style, but, to be honest, there are better choices on the market in terms of equipment. The ultimate failure of Nike Golf is due to the absence of their hobbled cash cow, Tiger Woods. We all know the polarizing and momentous impact Tiger has on the game, (refer to our previous blog about The Golf Channel’s around the clock coverage of Tiger’s parking spot to see how ridiculous it really is!), and we’ve raised the question before in terms of the future of the game on who would carry the torch of being the next Tiger- But what about Nike? Tiger has been struggling to consistently participate full-time on Tour since 2009, and although it has taken its toll on all aspects of the game, it just may have hurt his mega sponsor the most. Arguably golf’s most talented player ever carried Nike’s golf department, and his absence from the game gradually buried demand for mediocre equipment. On a positive note, now might be the time to check the clearance rack at your local golf shop for some good bargains!

Golf’s Return to the Olympics:
Finally, after 102 years, golf has returned to the Olympic stage this year in Rio! Fans from around the world were treated to some fantastic play from many of the game’s best players. The format was a standard 72-hole stroke play event, held at the serene Olympic Golf Course located at the Reserva de Marapendi. The Olympic Course, constructed especially for the event, had its fair share of exotic wildlife, none more interesting than a family of rare owls that burrowed their home in a greenside bunker! The drama continued between the ropes in the men’s tournament, as it came down to the final hole to decide who would be Olympic Champion. A masterful approach chip by Justin Rose secured a 1 shot-victory over Sweden’s Henrik Stenson, bringing home Gold for Great Britain. USA’s Matt Kuchar made the Olympic podium by securing the Bronze medal! The Women’s tournament was a dominate performance by South Korea’s Inbee Park, as she secured the Gold medal by more than 5 shots. New Zealand’s Lydia Ko took home the Silver, and China’s Shanshan Feng grabbed the Bronze. USA’s Stacy Lewis just missed out on the podium, finishing in a tie for fourth. Overall, it was a fantastic reintroduction of golf to the Olympic Games, and we cannot wait to see who tees it up in Tokyo in 2020!

Myrtle Beach Golf Takes the US OPEN!

The Golf Capital of the World pokes it’s chest out a little bit further than usual this week as we celebrate the US Open with one of Myrtle Beach’s very own! Dustin Johnson captured his first Major Championship Victory yesterday by winning the 116th US Open at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. The 31 year old PGA Tour veteran, an SC native who attended Coastal Carolina University and used to call Myrtle Beach home, held off some of the world’s best to achieve something that had alluded him on several instances in seasons past. Johnson, regarded by many as one of the most talented golfers on the planet, had been dealt heartbreak numerous times over the years upon the brink of a Major Victory – an improbable 3-putt on the final hole during the 2015 US Open thus gifting the victory to Jordan Spieth being the most recent of DJ’s near misses on golf’s biggest stage.

Superstitious or not, one cannot argue that the series of unfortunate events attempted to rear its ugly head once again in an attempt to deny Johnson another opportunity for Golf immortality. This year it came in the form of the USGA Rules Officials, as they confronted Johnson on the 12th hole about the possibility of a post-round penalty assessment involving a ruling that was made before his putt on the 5th green.

Reader ‘s Digest Version:
• Dustin’s ball moved on the 5th green before he addressed the ball to putt.
• Dustin, his playing partner Lee Westwood, and a Rules Official deemed that Dustin did not interfere with the ball and did not cause it to move – case closed.
• A USGA “committee” further reviewed the footage and felt like there was a “chance” that Dustin “could be” responsible for the movement of the ball.
• Officials told Dustin on the 12th tee that a 1-stroke penalty “could be” assessed after play.

Something as convoluted and confusing as this would have frazzled even the most mentally strong competitor, let alone Dustin Johnson, who has had his fair share of mental collapses on Sunday of a Major Championship. However, DJ brushed off the distraction admirably and soldiered on through the rest of his round. He left his best shot of the tournament for the final hole, where he stuck his second shot within 6 feet of the green, leaving a birdie chance and securing his first Major Championship. Johnson was indeed assessed a 1-stroke penalty after the round, but it was a moot point as he won the tournament by 3 strokes.

This victory propels DJ to the #3 golfer in the world, just behind Jordan Spieth and Jason Day. If there was any question that Johnson was a top player, all were answered this Sunday at Oakmont. On behalf of MB Golf, we congratulate you Dustin on a terrific tournament and your Major Victory!
Summer time in Myrtle Beach is full of sun and sand, but it’s also the perfect time hit the links! Get great last minute tee time deals with MBgolf.com!
